Check out this video from Eclipse Clothing shot on a Canon 7D- Very Cool

Eclipse Clothing is based in LA and these two guys have been producing clothing for the urban surf and skate culture of southern California of the past 8 years.

They are also very talented at utilizing the canon 7D to it full potential. This is one of their very cool videos, check it out:

Here's some more information about these cool cats:

Rafael Navarro and Ronald Huertas started the company way back when they were in high school. Rafael wanted to start a clothing company, so he went to his friend Ronald, during their lunch break and told him he had an idea for a clothing company and he wanted to call it Eclipse. That very same day they came up with the logo and haven't changed either the name or the logo of the company since. They began selling T-shirts to their classmates out of the trunk of a friends car, cause neither of them had a car yet. Whatever money they made went directly back to the company to pay for more product and designs. By the end of senior year, they had a lot of support from the entire school. A big motivator for them was when their teachers began purchasing clothes for themselves and for their own kids. Their teachers were very supportive and encouraged them to follow their dreams.

The theme of the company fell into place on its own, with the name eclipse it was only fitting that they wanted to reach for the stars. They wanted to incorporate outer space into their company. They've always had a fascination for outer space and the possibilities beyond our world. Stars, galaxies, UFO's, aliens, all of it. Eclipse Clothing is how they've interpreted what's out there in that beautiful space. They've created a world inside of Eclipse Clothing, and just like the universe, it is going to continue to grow.

3rd Annual ETSY Craft Party Hosted at CRAFTED

On June 6th CRAFTED hosted its 3rd annual Etsy Craft Party. KTLA’s Allie Mac Kay previewed the event by making crafts with CRAFTED artisans Things to Wine About, Tamiza’s Treats, Artisan Candle Company and Keep on Givin’. View the live TV segments here, here, and here.

Once the party started, the real fun began. Over 800 people came to get crafty at more than a dozen activity stations, including photo embroidery projects, sun catcher stringing, decoupage painting and more. Party guests were also treated to a complimentary photo shoots by our friends from Capture Pod Photo Booths, face painting and floral crowns with Crown Bloom Co. There was tasty food and drink with Vella Pizza and Brouwerij West. A funky live DJ also livened the mood.

CRAFTED AT THE PORT OF LOS ANGELES is a new concept for Southern California; a large-scale permanent craft marketplace. Our classic World War II-era waterside Warehouse No. 10 is home to hundreds of individual craft-artists, designers, and artisanal food makers. Each artist presents their unique handcrafted goods in a vibrant patchwork of market stalls. Visitors enjoy 52 weekends a year of handmade happiness – shopping a huge variety of one-of-a kind treasures and handmade goods, learning to make their own crafts and meeting with the makers every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking and admission are free!

As the door opened there was excitement and music in the air. I was one of the very few people with full access to the place. It was great to see the ETSY Craft Party at CRAFTED from angles that are off limits to the average visitor. It was like a student standing on a teachers desk and and looking around the classroom, or a surfer standing up on that first wave.

The ETSY Craft Party at CRAFTED had something to offer everyone. They really had it all, local beer, wine, sodas, coffee creations, great food, entertainment and plenty of things to see to get inspired.

The music really set the mood, it was like a mellow oldschool techno with a twist of sophisticated night life. The kind of music that sneaks up on you and you find yourself smiling and walking to the beat.

There were games and prizes around every corner. I liked this game, all you had to do was stop off and pick up two ducks and see if the numbers on the bottom matched, if they matched you won. It was great to see so many people having a great time winning.

I really enjoyed the Crafters and vendors that were there to support the event. They all seemed to be on the same page, happy to see you, happy to share their talents. With that type of forward momentum it was no surprise that the event was a great success.

There was so much to see and do. You could play reimagined video games and then turn a corner and get your picture taken at one of the photo-booths. It was an event that the whole family could really enjoy.

While walking around inside I saw someone pass me with an awesome personal pizza. I asked them were they got it and they happily pointed me to the outside parking area. They guys were great, I'm still impressed that they brought their own pizza over with them, pretty amazing stuff.

Back inside the party was really in full swing. I can't remember the last time I've seen so many happy people in the same place. It was really a great night to remember.

There was a consistent flow of people coming in and going out during the event, like waves on the beach. It was really cool to see everyone in action.

CRAFTED is a really big place in San Pedro. It's inside Warehouse No. 10 and there are hundreds of individual craft-artist, designers and artisanal food makers. Also because it was the ETSY Craft Party there was even more action with dozens of craft stations where you could get involved and make something memorable.

I really enjoyed hanging out and playing some of the games that STEAM Carnival offered. I asked them if STEAM was an acronym for something and they said it stood for: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math. I didn't realize playing games was going to be fun and educational. It turns out they will be back October 25th & 26th (2014). I'm really looking forward to that!

Test Driving my Canon 7D with a High Surf Advisory on 12-1-12... By Eric Cedeno

I took my Canon 7D out for a test drive at the beach. Wow that a fast shutter speed! I'm really happy with it. I know I need to spend more time figuring out how to use all the setting to maximize the quality, but for a foggy , drizzling high surf advisory morning I think I did ok.

Canon 5D Mark II vs Canon 7D - The Pepsi Challenge

I saw this video the other day when I was still trying to take the Pepsi challenge on which new Canon camera to get. This guy cracks me up and I really like his breakdown of each of the canon cameras (5D Mark II vs D7). The 8 FPS (Frames Per Second) and some of the other little perks that are more geared for high speed surf photography really sold me on the 7D.

High surf warning was issued today on all Hawaiian islands as 15 foot waves roll in.
Spent my lunch break at Kewalo basin taking pictures and video.

Canon 7D - North Shore in Slow Motion

I just picked up a Canon 7D yesterday and now I'm really hooked. I'm so hooked that I started this blog so that I don't start taking over my surf blog http://nobadtides.blogspot.com/. I did a little searching on Youtube and found this awesome video. I'm looking forward to one day shooting a video like this one- check it out:

The main surfer in the video is Andy Pierce. Evan Fa is one of the body boarders in the video as well.

On a technical note:
The entire video was shot on a Canon 7D, all in 720P, at 60fps (frames per second).

I used a couple different Canon lenses to shoot this, they were...
Canon 70-200 F/2.8
Canon 100-400 F/4/5.6
Canon 2X III Extender (this makes the lens when it is at 400mm, become 800 mm's. It does loose some quality, but it's not very noticeable.)

The entire video was shot all on the North Shore, at Pipeline, and Waimea for the big waves.

To get the "super slow motion", after I filmed at 60fps, I through it into the program "After Effects". I used an effect that comes with the program called "Time Warp". This allowed me to make the 60fps, to 1000fps. The way this works is the computer processes/adds frames in between the frames that are already in existence. It took several days for the computer to process the clips into the super slow motion that appears as well, so it does take a lot out of the computer, as far as processing goes.

Another similar program that does something similar to this slow motion effect, is a program called "Twixtor". It's another great program that is very similar, however you have to buy it as a separate plugin, and it is a little expensive, but if you do a lot of slow motion, it's totally worth it :)
